Dr. Miyamoto received his dental degree from Creighton University School of Dentistry, Master of Science degree from Boston University, & Ph.D degree from Nihon University and completed the summer institute of Clinical Research Methods, Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University Washington and Johns Hopkins University. He furthered his knowledge of Clinical Periodontics & Implantology during his time at the Boston University, where he completed three years specialty training in Periodontics. Following the completion of his training, Dr. Miyamoto became an assistant professor at Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine where he maintained a practice limited to Periodontics & provided surgical periodontal & oral surgery related therapies. Dr. Miyamoto serves as Creighton’s Associate Professor and Department Chairman and adjunctive faculty member at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, College of Dentistry. Dr Miyamoto has a private practice limited to Periodontics and Dental Implants in LaVista and is a recipient of the Bud and Linda Tarrson Fellowship. The fellowship, offered through the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation, is the most prestigious career development award offered to the periodontists. Since 1998, the fellowship has been awarded annually to only one periodontist in United States.
Furthermore, he is named as an “Evidence-Based Champion” by the American Dental Association and received the Educator Award of Excellence in Teaching and Mentoring Periodontics from American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) twice in 2008 and 2013. He is currently a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the Journal of Periodontology. The Editorial Advisory Board includes members from throughout the world who have been chosen for their roles as leaders in the clinical and biological sciences that represent the scope of the Journal of Periodontology. He has also served as a president of the Nebraska Society of Periodontics. He has also served on the Board of Directors of Southwest Society of Periodontists (District 5 American Academy of Periodontology) and the Omaha District Dental Society Board, is a Delegate to the Nebraska Dental Association House of the Delegates and an editorial board for the Journal of Oral Science & a member of Honor Dental Society – Omicron Kappa Upsilon & is diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Miyamoto’s memberships include the American Academy of Periodontology, the Academy of Osseointegration, the International Association for Dental Research, the American Dental Association, the American Dental Education Association and the OBI Foundation for Bioesthetic Dentistry. Dr. Miyamoto published over 20 peer review articles & lectures nationally & internationally to the dental and medical communities on the topics of periodontics and dental implants. He is a co-founder of private dental implant institutes named Anatomy and Dental Implant Institute and Perio Health Institute Japan.
